Overview: Impeach Trump

My data story centers on the effects world events have had on people’s interest in the impeachment of Donald Trump. First looking at searches for “impeach Trump” over the past 90 days, I found notable increases at three different times. I then searched for corresponding world events that could have triggered these spikes. For each event I found, there was a person at the forefront: Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Michael Cohen, and Vladimir Putin.

Article: López Obrador

Lopez Obrador is the current President-elect of Mexico. This Washington Post article looks into what Obrador's election could mean for Trump.

Article: Michael Cohen

Michael Cohen was Trump's lawyer until a federal investigation began. Cohen is being looked into for bank fraud. This is important because of his proximity to the Trump administration.

Article: Vladimir Putin

Vladimir Putin is the current president of Russia. This New York Times article details the 2018 summit meeting between Trump and Putin.
